Christmas Candy Cane

Hey y'all!
I hope y'all are doing fantastic and that y'all's school semester has gone great! I know finals are stressful and I hope y'all are getting through them! Remember trust God no matter the outcome!
Anyways, other than finals I know everyone is pumped for Christmas in just a few weeks! I can't believe how fast this year has gone by! It seems like it was just yesterday that we were celebrating the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ! Christmas is my all time favorite holiday and I anticipate every year the decorations, the Christmas trees, the hot cocoa, celebrating Jesus' birth etc. there are SO many things that I love about Chtistmas and I could go on and on!
And the food is especially delicious around Christmas!! :) The hot chocolate, Chick-Fil-a's peppermint milkshake(my favorite thing in the world) and my favorite candy, the Candy Cane! :) the candy cane has such an addicting taste to it and the peppermint that they put in them is so satisfying! The history of the candy cane is such a unique story to! The man who introduced the candy cane to the world was a believer and his intentions were to hopefully share the true meaning of Christmas! You can really see the symbolic meaning behind it if you really think about it. First is the "hardness of the candy." The hard candy reminds us the Jesus is like a rock, strong and dependable. We can always depend on Jesus to be our solid rock whenever we need help to stand firm on faith. Psalm 31:3 says "For you are my rock and my fortress for your names sake you will lead me and guide me."
The second symbolism is the peppermint flavor which is like the gift of spices from the wise men! When the wise men came to visit Jesus they brought with them three gifts of gold, frankencense and myrrh!
The third symbolism is the white candy which stands for Jesus as the holy, sinless Son of God. Jesus was the perfect lamb who came down to earth in the form of man to pay the punishment for our sin. 1 John 1:7 says "but if we walk in the Light as he himself is in tag Light we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin."
The fourth symbol is the cane which is like the staff used by shepherds when caring for the sheep. Jesus is our Good Shepherd caring and watching over us with his staff.
The fifth symbol is the letter J. When you turn the candy came upside down it's like a J for the name Jesus.
Last but not least is the color red and the stripes! The red is for Gods love that sent Jesus and for Jesus showing his love on the cross! Without his sacrifice we wouldn't have the opportunity to have a relationship with Him and to live eternally in heaven. And the stripes remind us of Jesus' suffering on the cross!
So as we celebrate Christmas and eat lots of candy canes lets not forget who started it all! The most incredible and mysterious thing for me is that God have up his royal throne to come down in the form of man, born in a lowly stable so that we could live with him in heaven and have a relationship with him!
I hope y'all have a very merry Christmas!!

Anna Klein!
